Inclusive Education

Cheshire Home’s initiative in the area of inclusive education through CBR projects involves working closely with family members and counseling parents. The identified children with Disabilities (CWDs) are assessed for their disability, provided preparatory education support at the center as well as through Disability Resource Centers. Project workers work closely with other stake holders like the State education department, Municipal Corporation and school authorities sensitizing main stream school teachers ( both primary and secondary), Anganwadi workers and community health workers. All this is done to ensure a CWD is enrolled into a main stream school thus enabling smooth transition from pre-school or preparatory education programmes to the inclusive classroom. The project also works closely with Government initiatives like the Sarva Siksha Abhiyaan (SSA) to leverage Government resources to ensure a CWD has access to all s/he requires.
