Advocacy Program / Young Voices

Advocacy Program (Locations - Bangalore, Mumbai, Delhi, Ranchi) As a result of the international awareness on the Rights of People with Disability, the Government of India in addition to providing reservation for 3% of vacancies in government for people with disability has in the 2013 budget passed that all large Corporations shall be required to spend 2% of their profit after tax on corporate social responsibility (CSR) activities to help poorer sections of society.

Young Voices Program : Young Voices Programme work for the young persons with disabilities with a view to develop their knowledge on United Nations Convention for the Rights of People with Disability (UNCRPD) and to learn how to use their voice in influencing policy and ensuring that the rights of the disabled provided under the various government schemes are made available to the disabled persons. This is a global campaign of Leonard Cheshire Disability which was initiated to ensure participation of the young disabled people in the policy formation process.

Repair counselors

Today there are Young Voices groups in Ranchi, Bangalore, Bombay and Delhi. This program has received international acclaim. Its national facilitator, Miss Ashwini Angadi, a severely visually impaired girl, received the Youth Courage Award for Education award at the special UN session on the occasion of the Malala Day at the UN headquarters in New York on Malala Day on 12th July 2013.
